Forest fires also known as Wildfires, have consumed thousands or even millions of forested acres in the United States annually. Read more about them!
It is believed that these fires actually help manage forest by burning off old growth and permitting new growth to take hold. As a result, the forest service uses prescribed or controlled burns to manage forest today. Fires burning in areas that have not had a fire in recent history burn faster, hotter, and consume more acres; are referred to as Mega fires.
